Archive Notes

"The Muestra de Saka U-Boat debuted in 2020 as an offshoot to the Muestra de Saka Unstolen Valor, which finished #12 on halfwheel’s Top 25 Cigars of 2020. The U-Boat’s blend uses an Ecuadorian habano 2000 sun-grown wrapper over a binder from Jalapa, Nicaragua, with the fillers using tobacco from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, plus some Connecticut-grown broadleaf. Saka previously said that the U-Boat is designed to be more complex than Unstolen Valor, which was done by adjusting the proportions of the filler. The first two releases, in 2020 and 2021, came in boxes of 10 cigars, all in a 7 x 50 Churchill vitola, slightly longer and thinner than the Unstolen Valor, which measures 6 x 52. In 2022, a 6 x 54 torpedo was added, with boxes containing eight Churchills and two torpedoes. Exclusive to Rocky's Cigars For 2023, there are still eight Churchills per box, but now there are two Depth Charge Perfectos, a 4 3/4 x 60 vitola that is also known as the Chubby Unicorn. Saka also produced an additional 300 cigars in each vitola, which were created for Rocky’s Cigars to use in future Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust samplers. In 2021, Saka changed the boxes from the brown colors used on other Muestra de Saka releases to a black and gray color scheme. Additionally, the U-Boat swaps out the gold-colored bands of the Muestra de Saka line for gray ones."
